Growing up, many of us had dreams of how our wedding day would look. Some of us even pictured our future spouse’s appearance and character. Everything we saw on television made marriage look so easy and showed nothing but happiness.
Somewhere along the way, the union of two people became a mockery. It seems that many are scared to jump the broom for fear of what may come with it. The lies, infidelity, and the lack of loyalty gives people the impression that marriage is either a joke or a fad.
Rather than taking care of their household, people rather show off what they feel others are impressed by. No one is impressed by how much you spend on a wedding. The outsiders looking in are more impressed with the longevity of a marriage. It gives them hope that real love is still out there.
A marriage is going to have its ups and downs. It’s not going to be easy but as long the two of you love each other unconditionally, communicate often, and support each other, marriage will last a lifetime. Don’t walk away as soon as situations become hard. Work through them with your partner.
Stop getting married for the wrong reasons. Get married because you love that person with all of your heart and you can’t see yourself without them. Show them why you married them and continue to show them every day.
Getting married is the easy part but staying married is the hardest. Don’t get married if you aren’t ready to commit to just one person for the rest of your life. You are not only wasting your time but you are wasting theirs too. Marriage is a commitment and shouldn’t be taken as a joke. It should be for a lifetime. If you go into a marriage thinking about divorce, then you truly haven’t given your marriage 100%.
In the end, when you are ready to take that step, you will know it.
