Lifetime Is Creating A Biopic About Kevin Durant’s Mother, “The Real MVP”

On Mother’s Day, ‘The Real MVP:The Wanda Pratt Story’ will premiere nationwide on the Lifetime network.

The biopic will cover the life of Wanda Pratt, the mother of Oklahoma City Thunder star, Kevin Durant. It has been announced that actress, Cassandra Freeman will be taking on the role of Durant’s mother, while actor Daniel Bellomy will play Durant on film.

The film is based on the true story of Pratt, a single mother who struggled to raise her two sons Tony and Kevin. The title, “The Real MVP,” comes from the touching speech Kevin gave in 2014, where he dedicated his NBA Most Valuable Player award to his mother and acknowledged the sacrifices she went through to make him the man he is today.

Queen Latifah is also attached to the upcoming project. Aside from Pratt and Durant, the Queen is one of the film’s executive producers.

“I can never thank my mom enough for all she’s done and sacrificed. See it all in #TheRealMVP: The Wanda Pratt Story coming to Lifetime TV,” Durant tweeted.

The Lifetime Original film, “The Real MVP,” airs on May 8th.
