Rapper Lil Durk has confirmed he will take a break after he was hit in the face by a pyrotechnic while performing on stage at Lollapalooza on Saturday.
Footage of the incident has made rounds across social media, showing the Chicago rapper walking through an on-stage explosion.
After he was struck in the face by smoke, Durk stumbled backward and then took a moment to wipe his eyes.
The next day, Lil Durk went on his Instagram to give an update on his situation. Alongside a photo of himself in the hospital with a bandage covering one of his eyes, the rapper shared his plans to take a break to focus on his health.
“Due to the incident that happened at Lollapalooza in Chicago on stage, I’ma take a break & focus on my health,” Durk wrote. “I finished my performance yesterday for my fans. Appreciate y’all.”

Saturday was day three of Lollapalooza at Chicago’s Grant Park. Durk was one of many artists at this year’s festival, which also included headlining performances from Lil Baby, Doja Cat, Metallica, Green Day, Machine Gun Kelly, and Kygo.
Big Sean, the Kid Laroi, Denzel Curry, Cordae, Jazmine Sullivan, Don Toliver, YG, Willow, and many more also made appearances.
