Lil Durk Hit with New Stalking Charge in Murder-for-Hire Case

Lil Durk’s legal troubles have taken a serious turn with new charges filed in his murder-for-hire case.

On May 1st, prosecutors added a charge of stalking resulting in death, accusing Durk of orchestrating the August 2022 murder of Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson, a relative of rival rapper Quando Rondo. This comes as part of a superseding indictment and an updated motion that also challenges the dismissal of Durk’s claims that his lyrics are being unfairly used against him.

Durk’s family issued a statement on April 29th, calling out the legal system for presenting “false evidence” to the grand jury.

“This isn’t justice. That’s a violation of the very system that’s supposed to protect all of us,” they stated. They further expressed concern that his lyrics, meant to tell stories and heal pain, are being weaponized: “We refuse to stay silent as Black artists continue to be criminalized for their creativity. Rap is art.”

Durk’s attorney, Drew Findling, also commented on RICO cases in a recent DJ Akademiks interview, likening them to steroids in baseball.

“RICO is for the weak-legged prosecutor that’s scared of losing,” Findling explained, adding that these cases often rely on flimsy evidence like social media photos. He called the trend in music industry-related legal cases “bulls**t.”

Durk’s fate will be decided on May 8th, when a hearing will determine if he’ll be released before trial.
