A message of support was posted Monday on the Instagram account of Lil Durk’s son Zayden following the rapper’s recent arrest.
The rapper, whose legal name is Durk Banks, was taken into custody last Thursday by U.S. Marshals and is facing a federal charge tied to an alleged murder-for-hire plot. The charge relates to the 2022 killing of Lul Pab, a cousin of rapper Quando Rondo, with federal prosecutors in California claiming that Durk and others associated with his Only the Family (OTF) crew may have arranged to travel across state lines in connection with the incident.
“I want to take a moment to stand up for my dad, Durk Banks,” the message began. “He has always dedicated his life to uplifting others and giving back to our community through his nonprofit organization, Neighborhood Heroes.” The post emphasized Durk’s commitment to making a positive difference and his consistent love and support for his family, adding, “Beyond that, he is a great father who has always supported and loved our family unconditionally.”
The post also expressed appreciation for the public support Durk has received, specifically from city officials. “I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the mayor for standing with my dad. His speech was well said and truly reflects the community’s support for those who strive to make a positive impact,” it continued, pointing to a statement from the city’s mayor acknowledging Durk’s contributions.
The message closed with a request for understanding during a challenging time, saying, “Right now, he is facing challenges, but I want to affirm that he has not been convicted of any charges and remains innocent until proven otherwise.”
