After years of chatter surrounding the film, Lil Kim has confirmed that her long-awaited biopic is in the early development stages.
The “Not Tonight” rapper made the announcement while attending a birthday party honoring former lover and mentor, The Notorious B.I.G. According to Kim, the film will be based on her forthcoming memoir, “The Queen Bee.”
For years, Kim has expressed interest in having her life story play out on the big screen. Last year, when the film was confirmed, Kim told PEOPLE that she was excited to tell her story.
“Many people have thought they knew the story of Lil’ Kim, but they have no idea,” she said during that sit-down.
Now that the project has officially kicked off, fans can expect “intimate details” surrounding her relationship with Biggie Smalls during his marriage to singer Faith Evans. Much of their affair was explored in Biggie’s 2009 biopic, “Notorious,” so it will be fascinating to see what more the Grammy-award winner will reveal about their time together.
The memoir is expected to be a juicy read, with Kim stating that “everyone’s gonna know things that they’ve never known.”
The biography will arrive later this year. It is unclear how soon the film will come after.
