Chicago rapper Lil Reese was arrested in Houston over allegations of assaulting a former girlfriend. TMZ reports that the arrest occurred nearly two weeks after a warrant was issued for the rapper, whose real name is Tavares Taylor. He’s been charged with aggravated assault of a family or household member and is currently being held without bond.
According to sources, Lil Reese was spotted Sunday night at The Address nightclub in Houston, where officers, already on the scene for unrelated reasons, reportedly recognized him. They apprehended the rapper, who kept silent as he was escorted out in handcuffs.
The arrest stems from an alleged incident at The Pink House nightclub two weeks ago, where Lil Reese is accused of punching his ex-girlfriend in the face and attempting to strangle her after she rejected his advances. The woman, who claims she was left “gasping for air,” told authorities she feared for her life. A friend of the alleged victim witnessed the assault and called security to intervene.
Lil Reese’s attorney, Carl Moore, has since responded, stating, “Mr. Taylor vehemently denies these false accusations. We look forward to his day in court.”
