Lil Tay’s Mother Granted Primary Custody Following Death Hoax

Lil Tay has recently garnered attention in the media due to a hoax about her passing away. And now, the 14-year-old is providing updates concerning the ongoing legal issues involving her family.

Last Friday, attorney Fraser MacLean shared a statement on Lil Tay’s Instagram account on behalf of her mother, Angela Tian.

“We have been asked to clarify media confusion as to the current state of the family law proceedings, including custody, child parenting, and child support,” the statement said. “Given privacy concerns related to the children, we provide a brief status update on the results in the British Columbia Supreme Court. MacLean Law successfully obtained orders for our client that have enabled her daughter to advance her career.”

Tian has the option to relocate from Vancouver if she chooses, and she has been given “sole day-to-day and final decision-making powers and responsibilities in the best interests of [Lil Tay].”

Tay’s father, Christopher Hope, is now required to reimburse child support dating back to 2014, amounting to approximately $275,000.

On August 9th, there was a widespread belief that the internet sensation and her brother, Jason Tian, had passed away, prompted by a statement on her Instagram account. However, TMZ later reported that the incident was a deceptive scheme and that both she and her brother were indeed alive. Further information regarding the matter revealed that her account had been compromised, a fact later confirmed by Meta.
