Rapper Lil Tjay was taken into custody in Broward County on Monday, April 6, following a situation at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Seminole police booked the 24-year-old rapper on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct and a capias warrant for driving without a valid license.
While the arrest was processing, speculation exploded online connecting Tjay to a separate incident at the same property where former Migos member Offset was shot. As the rumors intensified, Tjay’s attorney, Dawn M. Florio, acted immediately to clarify the situation.
“Lil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting,” Florio stated on Monday night. “Any reporting to the contrary is false.”
Local law enforcement officials noted that Tjay was involved in a physical altercation with unknown individuals prior to the shooting incident in the resort’s valet area. However, his legal representation insists that any claims linking the rapper to the gunfire are entirely fabricated.
On Tuesday, Florio released a formal statement via Instagram to address the situation: “We are issuing this release in regards to false rumors that Lil Tjay was involved in a shooting which occurred at the Valet Area of the Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood, which resulted in non-life threatening injuries to Offset, formerly a member of Migos.”
The statement highlighted the importance of waiting for verified information: “Lil Tjay has not been shot, nor has Lil Tjay been charged with any shooting. Any reporting to the contrary is false. We encourage people to consult trusted news sources, and to verify the accuracy of any reporting, before reflexively sharing or repeating baseless rumors.”
The two previously feuded over claims that Offset owed Lil Tjay money related to an alleged gambling addiction. For now, the New York rapper remains in legal proceedings regarding his disorderly conduct charge, as the Migos rapper continues to recover.
