Lil Uzi Vert comes to Jack Harlow’s defense after people online say white privilege helped his rap career: “He doesn’t have white privilege.”
While taking photos with fans, Lil Uzi chatted with TMZ about his feelings on Jack Harlow and how white privilege may or may not have benefited his career following some backlash against the Kentucky rapper online.
“You’re friends with Jack Harlow; do you think he deserves all this hating he’s getting?” asked the TMZ reporter. Uzi responded, “No. He’s really good.” The TMZ reporter then went on to ask if white privilege played a part in Harlow’s career success.
“A lot of people are saying he just has white privilege, that he’s not as good of a rapper,” said the TMZ reporter.
“No, he doesn’t have white privilege,” said Uzi. “He’s signed to Black people.”
So many people dont understand what white privilege is. EVERY SINGLE WHITE PERSON IN THE UNITED STATE HAS WHITE PRIVILEGE whether we like it or not or asked for it or not. We are born into it because this entire country is set up to somehow benefit in some way from being white MORE SO than being a person of color. It has nothing to do with money. His white privilege may have nothing to do with his success but that doesnt mean he doesnt carry white privilege every day of his life as do I. I dont like it. I fight against it. But I was born into it thanks to my racist ancestors who created the whole racist system to begin with.
