Lil Wayne Announces His Split From Cash Money

This is what it feels like when hell freezes over. Yesterday, Lil Wayne sent out a cryptic tweet that could be considered an announcement that he is now a free man.

You may recall the rapper taking to Twitter last week to vent his frustrations about the label. Saying that Birdman was delaying the release of his Carter V album,  likening himself to a prisoner and explaining how much he desired to leave the label. Well, last night Wayne tweeted, “YM! That’s it. Nothing else.” Simply explained: He’s got the shackles off his feet, now he can dance.

Birdman has yet to respond publicly and there aren’t any details available as to what this means for Wayne or Young Money, but I will say that it will be very interesting to see Lil Wayne without Cash Money for the first time in his 20 year long career. Can the label survive without him? Considering rumors we’ve heard several times in the past, I wouldn’t be surprised if Drake followed suit next.
