Lil Wayne is claiming self-defense in the lawsuit filed against him by his former bodyguard.
In newly filed court documents, the rapper is denying the claims brought forth by Carlos Christian. He sued Wayne back in December 2023 over a late 2021 incident where Weezy allegedly pulled a gun out on Christian. He called the police after the dispute, though the Cash Money star denied the allegation. However, in his lawsuit, Christian shared that his former client punched him in the ear while holding the AR-15. During the ordeal, he feared he would be shot.
Wayne denies pulling the weapon altogether but does claim their situation turned physical so he could defend himself. Sources told TMZ that the fight stemmed from Wayne confronting Christian about allegedly taking photos and leaking them to the press. They also spoke up for Wayne and denied he owned a gun at all.
“[Carlos’] claims are barred or reduced in whole or in part by [Carlos’] acts and/or negligence,” Wayne’s attorney wrote as part of their dismissal request.
Christian is pointing out Wayne’s previous gun convictions as proof of violent tendencies. Wayne was arrested in 2007 and charged with one count of criminal weapons possession and one charge of criminal possession of a loaded weapon. He ultimately served eight months in jail. In 2020, the “No Ceilings” creator pled guilty to illegally possessing a handgun.
A judge has not yet ruled on the dismissal.
