Lil Wayne’s old lyric notebook from the ’90s is now officially on the market with a staggering price tag of $5 million. The sale comes after a long legal dispute over its ownership, which was finally resolved earlier this year.
Initially listed for $250,000 five years ago, the price has now shot up due to the rarity and significance of the notebook. Moments in Time, the company handling the sale, explained the high price, stating that Lil Wayne is one of the greatest rappers of all time, making his handwritten notes extremely valuable.
The notebook’s history is just as intriguing as its content. In 2019, Moments in Time tried to sell it on behalf of a man who claimed to have found it in a car previously owned by Cash Money Records. Lil Wayne, however, challenged this claim, insisting that the notebook was his property and demanding its return. His legal team sent a cease and desist letter to Moments in Time, accusing the man of lying and trying to capitalize on Wayne’s work.
The man fought back, arguing “finders-keepers,” and sought a court ruling to confirm his ownership. Despite the drama, Lil Wayne never responded, leading the court to side with the man.
Now, after years of back-and-forth, the notebook is available for purchase, offering a unique piece of rap history to anyone willing to pay the hefty price.
