Lil Yachty has found himself in the headlines for his recent appearance at ComplexCon 2024 and for clashing with footwear content creator Bimma Williams.

Over the weekend, Yachty joined the Sneaker of the Year panel at the two-day convention and took a moment to address Williams’ recent video critique that questioned Yachty’s sneaker design and even made fun of his cultural knowledge.
In the viral clip, Williams called Yachty’s Nike collaboration a glorified “general release.” He implied that Yachty lacked cultural depth and shouldn’t claim the title of hip-hop’s biggest sneakerhead. To add to his criticism, Williams even made jokes about Yachty’s delayed appreciation for Jay-Z’s albums, “Reasonable Doubt” and “The Black Album,” and claimed Yachty thinks “Wu-Tang is a hot sauce.”
When the video came up during the panel, Yachty didn’t hold back and took the opportunity to address Williams directly as the crowd laughed.
“All that for 20,000 views and 500 likes. I hate n***as like him…I can’t even hear you. I don’t even know what you’re talking about. I hate n***as like him. Black n***as like that, hating on another n***a,” Yachty ranted. “Just hatin’ just to hate.”
Outside of the heated conversation, the QC rapper debuted his Nike Air Force 1 collaboration design with limited amounts. More are expected to be released soon.
