As previously reported, the NFL is holding a private workout this Saturday for Colin Kaepernick, in hopes of getting him back in the league after a 3-year absence. Now, several teams have revealed whether they will send reps to the workout or not.
So far the Detroit Lions coach Matt Patricia confirmed that reps will be sent to the workout stating, “As an organization, we always do our due diligence on all players that are available, so I know [Bob Quinn] and his staff will have someone down there to watch the workout, and we’ll see where that goes.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The Miami Dolphins have also confirmed attendance. Head coach Brian Flores confirmed in a statement saying, “We’ll have someone there, we’ll see what he looks like. We like our quarterback situation right now. We’re going to do our due diligence.”
With the workout taking place at the Atlanta Falcons facility, the team has confirmed that there will be a rep in attendance.
Other teams, including the Chicago Bears, Indianapolis Colts, Dallas Cowboys, Baltimore Ravens, & New England Patriots, haven’t made an official decision yet, while the Houston Texans and New York Jets both declined to comment.
NFL player and supporter of Kaepernick, Eric Reid, spoke out about the workout stating he thinks it’s a ‘PR stunt.’ “Being that it’s on a Saturday, what decision-makers are going to be able to attend that workout? The other strange thing is, I saw that it was reported that teams were interested in Colin, but they reached out to the league about it. That’s strange. So we’ll see what happens.” When asked by a reporter if he thought that this was progress, Reid responded, “I’ll quote Malcolm X if you stick a knife 9 inches in my back and pull it out 6, that’s not progress, there’s still a knife in my back.”
