Six months following her death, the reason behind Lisa Marie Presley‘s untimely passing has been revealed.
According to the autopsy report, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner announced on Thursday that Presley’s cause of death was a small bowel obstruction. The report states that Presley had experienced abdominal pain on the morning of January 12, 2023, and was later discovered unresponsive at home, leading to the 911 call.
Shortly after being transported to a hospital in Southern California, Presley was declared deceased. During her hospitalization, it was determined that she had a significantly “distended abdomen and was diagnosed with severe metabolic acidosis.”
The autopsy report also mentioned that Presley had undergone bariatric surgery before passing. However, it was specified that this procedure was not directly connected to the immediate cause of her death.
Earlier this year, the unexpected news of Presley’s death was announced by her publicist, Sam Mast. In a statement, Mast expressed that the Presley family was deeply taken aback and emotionally devastated by the tragic loss of their “beloved Lisa Marie.”
Prior to her death, Presley attended the 80th Golden Globes held in Beverly Hills, California. During the event, she joined her mother in celebrating actor Austin Butler, who had won the award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture (Drama) for his portrayal of Elvis Presley in the biopic “Elvis.” Lisa Marie was the only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley.
