In an interview with Ziwe, she reflected on how her connections with people who were once close to her have dwindled since she became famous.
“I used to have so many friends, but when you get famous, it gets really weird,” Lizzo admitted. “Everyone makes it weird for famous people.” She went on to explain, “I’m still a normal person. You’re still you. Everything around you changes. It’s heartbreaking.”
Lizzo also shared some advice for those aspiring to fame, warning them to think twice before chasing it.
“Don’t be famous,” she advised, speaking directly to her audience. “I know you guys want to be, and I know you want to go online, go viral, get your money, and be rich.” She clarified, “Rich and famous are not the same thing. If you’re an artist, do your art, but don’t just be famous. You can’t leave. It never ends.”
Despite this revelation, Lizzo does appear to be close to singer SZA. In recent years, the pair has shared images from vacations and other outings together.
On a separate note, Lizzo also recently discussed her ongoing weight loss journey. During a TikTok Live, she issued a warning to those who obsess over calories, stating, “We rebel against counting calories because it is a gateway to eating disorders.” She has also frequently called out those who discuss her weight in a negative way.
