Lizzo says she is done with music, and it’s all thanks to internet trolls and even some people around her.Â
The “About Damn Time” singer and rapper took to Instagram to express her frustration with the constant mistreatment that she has endured. Lizzo has been a topic of bullying online in the past regarding her weight and even clothing options, amongst other things. However, behind the scenes, it seems that Lizzo has been bearing similar actions from those closest to her.Â
“I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet. All I want is to make music, make people happy, and help the world be a little better than how I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it,” Lizzo started the message.Â
That final sentence is particularly alarming, considering that Lizzo has been vocal about her struggles with her mental health, particularly her battle with anxiety and depression. This sparked an outpouring of support from fans, sending well-wishes to the Grammy Award winner.Â
Lizzo then admitted that she was unhappy with rumors about her. This could be pertaining to the sexual harassment lawsuit filed against her last year by several of her backup dancers. Â
“I’m constantly up against lies being told about me for clout & views…being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look…my character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name,” she wrote, ending the message with “I didn’t sign up for this sh**–I QUIT.”
Hopefully, Lizzo can return to music after this apparent rough patch.Â
