Lizzo is calling out TikTok for allegedly removing her videos where she’s wearing a swimsuit.
On Tuesday, the Grammy-winning artist claimed the social media platform was secretly taking down her posts. “TikTok keeps taking down my videos with me in my bathing suits,” reads text she posted over a video of her lip-syncing. “But allows other videos with girls in bathing suits,” she continued, implying that her content is being targeted because of her body. “I wonder why? Tiktok… we need to talk,” her post continues.
Users of the app have been the victim of TikTok, removing their videos. Last year the site revealed that it “suppressed” posts from “special users” if the content included overweight people, autistic people, and people with noticeable face disfigurement, according to Teen Vogue. Previous statements from TikTok said the action was taken “early on.”
Back in December 2019, the app said it discontinued the discriminatory tactic.
