LL Cool J won’t be performing this year at New York‘s “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve” celebration after catching COVID-19.
Some of us are staying home and others are taking a risk and going out this season in the midst of a COVID-19 surge. Fox News reports that rapper, actor and record producer LL Cool J plans to keep it cool and stay home after contracting COVID-19.
“I know it’s disappointing to the millions of fans but my test came back positive for COVID, which means I’ll no longer be able to perform as scheduled at NYRE,” LL Cool J said in a statement. “We were ready and I was really looking forward to ringing in 2022 in my hometown in a special way, but for now I wish everyone a healthy and happy New Year. The best is yet to come!”
New York Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that the city would continue with its New Year’s Eve plans despite the rise in COVID-19 cases around the country.
Other performances set to take the stage include “Dick Clark’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest.” Billy Porter, Karol G and Famer Journey will also perform.
