A former Long Beach police officer has been indicted on federal child pornography charges.
On Wednesday, police arrested 57-year-old Anthony Brown after being accused of having and distributing child porn while working as a law enforcement officer, KTLA 5 reports. The Lakewood resident pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Wednesday, where he was hit with three counts of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.
Between November 2019 and April 2020, Brown – who’d been with force for 27 years – used the online application MeWe to send out sexual images of girls. MeWe reported Brown’s actions to authorities,  a spokesperson for MeWe said. From October 2019 to May 2020, Brown also kept explicit photos of a girl under 12.
Earlier this year, Brown stepped down from his position after being arrested on state charges regarding the same crimes. The Long Beach Post reports Brown will receive a pension of about $93,000 a year. He’s since been released on bond and is scheduled to appear for his trial on Nov. 23.
