More than 22 years later, the murders that enraged a racially tense America may awaken again. According to #RonnShipp, longtime friend of #OJSimpson and former police officer, “The Juice” will issue a murder confession as early as 2017 pending his release from prison.
Shipp believes that the only way OJ can escape his torment is if he admits to the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and her alleged lover, Ronald Goldman. According to Shipp, OJ is in total torment. “Someone told me he is 300 pounds and he looks horrible. O.J. has always felt his appearance meant everything and now, deep down inside, he is starting to live with himself”, Shipp tells #NewYorkDailyNews.
Although never convicted for the murders, Simpson lost in civil court. He is currently imprisoned for armed robbery and kidnapping when, according to OJ, he was only trying to get back his sports memorabilia that he believed was stolen from him. Although never spoken in court, OJ’s murder acquittal was an underlying thought in his trial. Goldman’s father was elated that he could possibly spend the rest of his life in jail. “We’re absolutely thrilled to see that the potential is that he could spend the rest of his life in jail, where scumbags belong”, Goldman stated in a 2008 news conference.
Nearly a quarter of a century later and the murders are still a concern for America. If Simpson does confess, he can not face any further judgements or prosecution because of double jeopardy. Once he went on trial and was acquitted, the law prevents a second trial for the sake of attaining a conviction. He was also apart of a civil suit where he received a judgment against him. The victims family can’t sue again. The only thing a confession could do is resolve his guilt , if in fact he committed the murders and feel guilty; or rehash the hatred people had for OJ.
Since Simpson’s imprisonment, there has been a series ( The People v. OJ Simpson), a book written by OJ and ghostwriter, Pablo Fenjves (If I Did It) and several documentaries referencing the 1994 murders.
