Yesterday it was reported that Lamar’s drug use may have gotten him the axe from the Los Angeles Clippers, where he played last season. Lamar Odom played well last season, but the team had a hard time reaching him to handle contract agreements. It is said that the reports of crack usage were absolutely the last straw for the organization and they have decided against re-signing Odom for another season.
This means that Lamar is currently a free agent. There is still hope, however. The Los Angeles Lakers are willing to put up with Lamar’s flaky behavior on the grounds that he goes to rehab for his addiction. Mitch Kupchak, the general manager of the Lakers, offered Lamar a deal “because the organization and the Buss family are extremely concerned about him.”
“Lamar needs to go to rehab and he’s been told by the team that if he goes and completes treatment, there’ll be a spot for him,” an insider tells Radar Online, “The Lakers are a family and even though Lamar isn’t currently on their roster, that doesn’t matter, he’s a two-time championship Laker.”
