The highly anticipated Lovers & Friends Festival took place in Las Vegas this past weekend and it featured a long list of artists, including Usher, Ciara, TLC, Lauryn Hill and so many more. Tickets went fast, selling out during pre-sale, causing the concert to turn into a two-day affair. While some attendees had a great time, others took to Twitter and other social media outlets to share their dissatisfaction.
“Can we talk about how #LoverandFriends was a second astroworld! I’ve never had to run for my life like that,” said an attendee.
According to authorities, three people were injured after reports of gunfire. Officials confirmed that it was a false alarm. The concert was continued despite many vacating the premises.
It seems the reported gunshots weren’t the only concern. Attendees also shared that it was hot, on asphalt and there was a lack of water.
Some attendees felt that the concert should have been stopped completely following the alleged shooting, instead, the concert continued approximately 20 minutes later.
On the contrary, some took to their social media to share positive messages regarding the concert, stating how much nostalgia and good vibes they experienced.
Amelia Pugh attended the festival with a group of friends and shared her experience. “Artists were great, but logistically, you can tell there were gaps.” Pugh shared that the organization and development of the festival were not up to par. “It is unfair that those who attended the concert on Saturday had to be guinea pigs for those who attended on Sunday,” said Pugh.
On day 1 of the festival, attendees were not allowed to bring their own water, there was no structure as to who was performing on the 2 different stages and they were served Luke warm water.
According to Pugh, things were different on Sunday.
She also shared what she experienced during the shooting scare. “I was sitting on the ground by Lovers & Friends stage, I looked behind me and I saw a lot of people running. I literally heard a gun shot, they said it wasn’t but it sound like it.”
Pugh shared that she would not be attending the next year’s festival unless they plan it at night.
This isn’t the first shooting incident in Las Vegas at a festival. A mass shooting took place in 2017 during the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival, where a 64-year-old man shot 1000 bullets, killing 60 people and injuring 867 people.
Many admitted to having trauma and being on edge following the Astroworld tour and now the Lovers & Friends Festival. No telling what this may mean for upcoming concerts and festivals.
