Ludacris learned a harsh lesson on Monday about leaving your car running and unattended. The rapper’s Mercedes-Benz was stolen in Atlanta when he hopped out to use the ATM.
According to 11alive.com, Ludacris, real name Chris Bridges, stopped police around 4:40 p.m. He told police that he heard his car drive away while he was at the ATM. Luda was unable to get a good look at the suspect.
Officers tracked the car to a Northwest Atlanta location where they found property belonging to the rapper but not the vehicle. Investigators continued to follow the car’s location until they located it in a parking garage in Midtown Atlanta before 10 p.m.
In the first week of January alone, 99 cars were stolen in Atlanta. Of the 99, 76 were stolen with the keys inside or had been running. Police are asking residents not to leave their vehicles unattended while running or with the keys inside.
