M.I.A. Calls Out Jay-Z & Roc Nation For Abandoning Her During Custody Battle

Singer M.I.A. is calling out Jay-Z and Roc Nation for not helping her regain custody of her son.

The British rapper went on a lengthy Twitter rant about how she lost custody of her now 14-year-old son Ikhyd to ex-fiance businessman Benjamin Bronfman. According to M.I.A., Jay-Z was paid by her ex and ultimately looked the other way during her custody battle.

“MY FIRST CUSTODY BATTLE WAS 2O13. MY CHILD WAS FOUR. I WAS MANAGED BY JAYZ. WHO ULTIMATELY WAS PAID BY BRONFMANS,” M.I.A. tweeted.

She then went at Hov and his Roc Nation imprint for abandoning her completely.

“THE DAY I WAS SERVED, 4 MY CHILD , ROCK NATION STOPPED ALL COMMUNICATION WITH ME AND ALL MY EMAILS TO JAYZ ASKING FOR HELP WAS WIPED FROM MY INBOX…MY WAS BROKEN INTO AND EVERY LAP WAS TAKEN. I WAS TRAPPED IN BROOKLYN ON ORDER SERVED THAT RESCRICTED ME LEAVING BKLYN FOR 15 YEARS,” the “Paper Planes” star wrote.

M.I.A. has long called out Bronfman for taking their child from her. Their battle began in 2013 when their son was just four years old. Bronfman filed and was granted a motion to keep the child in the U.S. despite M.I.A. wanting to take him back to London. Now, she has thrown Jay in the mix for allegedly contributing to this. In another tweet, M.I.A. seems to suggest that the mogul turned his back on her and “shadow-banned” her from multiple platforms. It’s unlikely Jay will respond.
