Officials in Jacksonville are seeking answers following a mass shooting at a Madden NFL conference that left two people dead and several others injured. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Authorities have identified the attacker as 24-year-old David Katz of Baltimore.
Katz, who killed himself after the vicious attack, was in Jacksonville as a competitor in the Madden NFL Championship series tournament.
Authorities are still seeking a motive for the senseless attack, but according to multiple Twitter accounts of participants as well as the L.A. Times, Katz was upset about losing the tournament.
While officials did not initially release the names of the deceased victims, the two men were identified online by fellow gamers, per CNN.
One of the victims, Taylor Robertson, was identified by his gaming sponsor. According to his online profile, Robinson was a 27-year-old from West Virginia.
The second victim, identified by his former high school, was 22-year-old Elijah Clayton from California.
The attack took place at a venue located inside of the Jacksonville Landing in the city’s downtown area. Gamers and fans gathered at the GLHF Game Bar for a Southeastern Qualifier for the Madden NFL Championship Series. The event was an official tournament sponsored by EA Sports.

The tournament featured a $5,000 top prize and winners would have gone on to compete in a classic round in Las Vegas. Those players would then compete to win a share of a $165,000 pool.
