Now that Britney Spears is free from her conservatorship, Madonna is ready to give the star a taste of freedom…literally.
The “Material Girl” singer held an Instagram Live session to answer her fans’ most pressing questions. When one viewer asked if Madonna would be doing another world tour, she jumped at the idea and shared that she wanted Spears to come along for the ride.
“We could reenact the original kiss,” Madonna said.
The pop stars took over tabloids in 2003 when they locked lips during the MTV Video Music Awards while performing Madonna’s single, “Hollywood.” The kiss with Spears sent shockwaves across the music industry and has been etched in pop culture history. Although the Queen of Pop also tongued down Christina Aguilera during the same performance, they did not receive the same reaction.
The last time fans got to witness Spears and Madonna performing together was in 2008 during the Sticky & Sweet Tour, where Spears made a guest appearance.
Though sources close to Spears say she is not concerned with shows after being stuck in a strict conservatorship for 14 years, the two women have publicly supported each other over the years. During the #FreeBritney movement, the 63-year-old advocated for the star to be granted her life back.
Spears has not responded to Madonna’s tour offer. Instead, the “Womanizer” star is savoring her independence, uploading odd yet liberating photographs and videos to her Instagram feed, which frequently leave fans scratching their heads while cheering her on.
