Madonna reflects on how her loved ones aided in her recovery one month after she was hospitalized due to a bacterial infection.
On Sunday, the singer, who was hospitalized shortly before her Celebration Tour began, shared in an Instagram post that she firmly believes “love from family and friends is the best medicine.”
“As a Mother you can really get caught up In the needs Of your children and the seemingly endless giving,” Madonna wrote. “But when the chips were down my children really showed up for me. I saw a side to them I had never seen before. It made all the difference.”
In her post, the singer shared pictures with her son, David Banda, and her daughter, Lourdes Leon. She also expressed gratitude towards her manager, Guy Oseary, for gifting her a photograph of Keith Haring taken by Andy Warhol.
“I sobbed when I opened this gift because I realized how lucky I am to be alive,” she added. “And how fortunate I am to have known these people and so many others who are also gone.”
At the end of June, Oseary announced that Madonna would have to postpone her Celebration Tour, originally set to kick off on July 15th, due to the bacterial infection she suffered. The North American leg of the tour will be rescheduled, while the European leg is planned to commence in October. In July, Madonna assured her fans that she would return as soon as possible, expressing her commitment to resuming the tour.
“I assure you, I’ll be back with you as soon as I can,” Madonna said.
