Madonna says she refuses to sell her music catalog.
In her recent interview with Variety, the “Material Girl” singer opened up about her relationship with music mogul Guy Oseary. During the conversation, the pop singer spoke about her musical records and how she refuses to sell them.
“Because they’re my songs,” she said. “Ownership is everything, isn’t it? I mean, that’s why [Guy Oseary] buying [NFTs].”
As a matter of fact, the multi-Grammy Award winner says she only has plans to extend her catalog.
“I’m just looking for interesting, fun ways to rerelease my catalog and introduce my music to a new generation. I’m focused on that, and I’ve been writing a screenplay for my film for the last couple of years.”
She continued, “The whole thing with “Frozen” was so fun, but I woke up one day and went, “I’m sick of living in the past!” I want to go on tour again. I’m a creature of the stage. That is my happy place.”
Madonna was referring to the infamous Sickick remix of her 1998 track “Frozen” featuring Fireboy DML. The hit made its way to TikTok last year and had a lucrative deal turn out for the singer.
