Madonna is the next celebrity on the chopping block for recreating the late Marilyn Monroe 1962 death for a photoshoot.
The 63-year-old singer got into character this Halloween by channeling her inner Marilyn Monroe. The inspiration for the shoot comes from Bert Stern’s “The Last Sitting,” which is Marilyn’s final photoshoot she did six weeks before her death. The photos show Madonna lying face down on a mattress with an exposed bottom, while other images show pill bottles on a nightstand.
For reference, Marilyn overdosed from prescription pills in her home. Many people weren’t feeling the photoshoot and called the singer “gross and inappropriate.”
One critic on Twitter said, “This isn’t cool. Glamorizing suicide is the only takeaway once the shock factor wears off.”
Madonna has always showcased her love for the blonde bombshell. The pop star’s music video for “Material Girl” was based on Marilyn’s performance of “Diamonds Are A Girl‘S Best Friend.” Madonna even played Marilyn in a sketch in 1985 for Saturday Night Live.
