Every February, men panic. The walls of their homes and office begin to close in on them. Their hearts palpitate a bit faster and their palms begin to sweat. Breathing then becomes difficult. What’s the cause of his anxiety? It’s Valentine’s Day. The weak pick fights and break up just before the commercialized holiday. Those who choose to endure Valentine’s Day log on to websites, peruse greeting card aisles, mob flower shops, and bravely search lingerie bins. Those brave souls understand that their woman’s happiness, and consequently, their own happiness for the next few weeks rely on what does for her on February 14.
The Basics
In relationships, the small things matter. When it comes to Valentine’s Day, those small things are the basics. First things first, you must order roses. Order at least a dozen (12) long-stem roses. For added points, have them delivered to her job. Nothing makes her happier than being able to show off in front of her co-workers. Next, you will need a greeting card. Pre-written greeting cards are nice but hand written greeting cards are better. Even if you are not a poet, or good with words, expressing your love and affection in your own words will make her heart melt. Keep it simple and tell her how she makes you feel. The cliché is that it is the thought that counts, but it is the effort that is appreciated.
Gifts
What makes the best gifts? While the expensive route may be the safe bet, if there is no meaning behind it, those gifts hold no value when it comes to love and your relationship. The best gifts are thoughtful and personal. Thoughtful gifts shows that you have been paying attention to her. Attention is a very powerful word in a woman’s vocabulary. Furthermore, you should be mindful of how long you have been dating when choosing a gift. If you’ve been dating up to 3 months, getting her a book she’s been meaning to read, tickets to a show or something personalized make for great gifts. If you’ve been dating 3-6 months, consider a weekend get away or his & her spa package. If you are approaching a year or more with your girlfriend, you should already know what she wants and likes. If you don’t, your relationship is probably on the ropes and you should be planning your exit. However, think about getting her something practical such as a new phone, an iPad, etc. On a romantic note, you can never fail with jewelry or girl’s best friend, diamonds.
Quality Time
She blushed when she received her flowers and card. She swooned over receiving your thoughtful gift. She loves you for both. However, you must spend some quality time to make her fall in love with you. What you do for her will captivate her senses, but who you are to her will captivate her heart. Be sure to schedule some time in which you can talk, laugh and enjoy each other’s company. A romantic dinner will have her seeing hearts. More than anything else on February 14th, giving her yourself is more than she can ever ask for.
