The director behind hit films like “Girls Trip,” “The Best Man,” and “Barbershop: The Final Cut” has signed on for a new major project.
Variety reports Malcolm D Lee has replaced Terence Nance as the director of the upcoming sequel “Space Jam 2,” starring LeBron James. Nance’s departure is reportedly due to “differing visions between Nance and the producers for Space Jam 2.”
This news comes as Don Cheadle was announced as another cast member of the movie. Lee will join Black Panther director Ryan Coogler behind the scenes, as Coogler was tapped as a producer of live-action/animated sports comedy.
“Space Jam 2” will make its debut on July 16.
