Maleah Davis’ stepfather has confessed to killing her and dumping her body on the side of a road in Arkansas, hundreds of miles from her Texas home.
Authorities in Arkansas found a black bag that was giving off a ‘foul odor’ Friday morning and was awaiting the arrival of Texas law enforcement officials who were flying the suspect, Derion Vence, to Arkansas to identify the location where he claims he left her remains.
Derion Vence made his confession to Quanell X, a community activist who was representing Maleah’s mother, on Friday. Quanell X shared with reporters that Vence gave key details and claimed that Maleah’s death was a result of an accident, though he did not specify exactly how she died.
Sources within the Houston police, who sent officers to Arkansas, said the remains are that of a child but have not yet confirmed if it is indeed Maleah.
