During a suspected drug-related dispute, a man was fatally shot inside a Bronx apartment, and subsequently, the shooter inadvertently took his own life.
According to the authorities, gunshots were heard inside an apartment building located on Rev. James A. Polite Avenue near East 163rd Street at approximately 12 p.m. on Tuesday. Upon their arrival, the NYPD and sources reported that law enforcement officers discovered a 28-year-old man, suspected to be the shooter, with a gunshot wound to the head. He was found bleeding in the second-floor hallway. Adjacent to him, a gun and a single spent shell casing were recovered.

The second individual was subsequently located inside a fifth-floor apartment. He was found near the entrance of his bedroom, having sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Additionally, law enforcement discovered crack cocaine, a scale near the man’s body, and various other drug-related items on the dresser.
Despite the prompt arrival of emergency responders, the police confirmed that both men could not be revived.
Additionally, the victim’s 56-year-old roommate says when he approached the situation, the gunman let off one shot, grazing the roommate’s face. The bullet passed through his bedroom and became lodged inside a kitchen cabinet. Medical treatment was administered at the scene, and the roommate’s condition was assessed as stable.
Investigators suspect that the shooter unintentionally shot himself while attempting to escape down the stairs. The NYPD has not officially confirmed the nature of the man’s self-inflicted shooting but states the situation is still being investigated.
