A mother’s boyfriend has been arrested after her son was found dead in a freezer.
Police in Las Vegas are looking into the death of a pre-school age child who was found in a freezer where his mother and her boyfriend were living, the New York Post reports. The probe was launched after the mother said she was being held against her will in a note that she instructed her other child to give to their elementary school teacher.
In the note, the mother said she is being kept captive and that she hasn’t seen her son since Dec. 11. She added that she believed he was dead, Fox 5 reports. The teacher gave the note to the Clark County School District Police Department who then called the Las Vegas police.
During surveillance, officers spotted the couple leaving their home at around 10 a.m. on Tuesday. When they questioned the couple, the mother told officers that she’s being abused by her boyfriend and pushed them against not speaking about her missing child. Police returned to the home and searched it; they ended up finding the boy’s body in a garage.
Authorities charged the mother’s boyfriend with kidnapping charges and a murder charge. They referred to the case as a “domestic-related homicide of a child.”
