Police in London arrested a man they say was suspected of contaminating food at several grocery stores.
According to NBC News, the man reportedly injected food with needles on Wednesday night.
In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said they were called to the West London area of Hammersmith and Fulham after witnesses reported a man shouting at people in the street.
Authorities said the suspect had gone into three different stores, “Little Waitrose,” “Sainsbury’s Local,” and “Tesco Express,” and “injected foodstuffs with a number of needles,” cops said.
The statement said that cops believe he targeted processed meat and microwavable products, but they do not know for sure that those are the only foods the man is accessed.
Officers took the man into custody, and the stores were shut down.
Cops are still trying to determine what was in the needles and if the man contaminated food at any other stores.
