A man that was caught on camera seemingly attempting to abduct a woman has now been arrested.
Just before 2 a.m. on New Year’s Day, surveillance footage from a Las Vegas home showed 23-year-old Darnell Rodgers run after a woman who had seemingly escaped from his white car. The woman ran to the home’s front porch with Rodgers right behind her. The video shows Rodgers forcefully grabbing the woman and dragging her back inside the car. The homeowner immediately sent the footage to the police after seeing it.
“It was absolutely very important,” Captain Dennis O’Brien said of the recording. “We had a name.” During the assault, the woman yelled out Rodgers’ name, which helped police locate him. “There was a call at approximately 3:45 in the morning in another area command that matched the name and description that was similar to our suspect in nature,” O’Brien said.
The caller reported that there had been a domestic dispute between a woman and her boyfriend. It turned out to be Rodgers.

When police arrested the suspect, they learned that the couple had a fight after a New Year’s Eve party. The victim ran out of the car, leaving the couple’s 1-month-old in the backseat, CBS News reports.
The woman in the video was found safe, and Child Protective Services are now involved in the case. CBS News reports that Rodgers is now in custody and is facing kidnapping and domestic battery charges.
