An incorrect order at McDonald’s led to a man instructing his 4-year-old son to shoot at police in Utah.
On Monday, officers from the Unified Police Department of Greater Salt Lake arrested a man who told his toddler son to shoot at police. This all happened around 1:30 p.m. when police were called to a McDonald’s in the city of Midvale of Salt Lake County; Mickie D’s employees said the man showed that he had a gun after receiving the wrong order.
The workers repeatedly told the man to pull out to the front of the store while they corrected his order, but they were calling the police at the same time, NBC News reports. When the police got there, they told the man to leave his car and gave him several other orders. The man didn’t follow directions, and that’s when officers removed him from the vehicle, police say.
As they were arresting the father, an officer noticed a gun pointing at them from the car. It turned out to be the man’s 4-year-old son, who fired a shot as a cop swiped the gun to the side. The boy’s 3-year-old sibling was also sitting in the back seat area of the car. Police learned during their investigation that the man told the child to fire the gun at them.
The investigation is still ongoing and the father is still in custody.
