A Texas man was allowed to bond out of jail just hours after murdering an unarmed motorist who parked in his driveway.
The shooting took place on October 11th at around 3:42 a.m. in the Martindale area. When Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office responded, they located 31-year-old Adil Dghoughi suffering from serious injuries. Sadly, he died shortly after at a nearby hospital. The man who pulled the trigger, Terry Turner, told authorities that he noticed an “unknown vehicle” parked next to his truck in his driveway with its lights off. Turner retrieved his gun and confronted the motorist, who had cut the lights on and put the car in reverse.
Turner then followed the vehicle on foot, shooting at the driver’s side door. He phoned 911 to confess that he’d just “killed a guy” but claimed that Dghoughi had pointed a gun at him first. However, there was no gun found in the victim’s vehicle. Dghoughi was a Moroccan national, leading several to believe that the shooting was racially motivated.
Sarah Todd, Dghoughi’s girlfriend, told CNN that she believes her boyfriend had gotten lost in the area and pulled over to look for directions when Turner killed him. Dghoughi immigrated to the United States in 2013 and received his master’s degree from Johnson & Wales University.
The authorities conducted several interviews and search warrants, which led to the 65-year-old being arrested on October 22nd. He was granted a $150,000 bond and was out of jail less than two hours after being taken into custody. He has been charged with murder.
