As tensions remain high in Memphis following the shocking murder of Young Dolph, another man was shot nearby the memorial honoring the rapper.
On Thursday, the shooting took place as a crowd gathered in front of Makeda’s Cookies to pay their respects at the location where Dolph lost his life. As the gunfire rang out, the group was captured on film, immediately dispersing. The wounded man was also seen being carried away and placed inside of a silver Nissan SUV. He was driven to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to survive.
Police arrested two men at the scene of the shooting and a third man nearby at an intersection. This latest incident arrives as city officials plead with residents to refrain from more gun violence. Many have even asked the city to implement a curfew following Dolph’s death. Memphis Police Chief CJ Davis urged citizens to stay home unless absolutely necessary.
The “Get Paid” star was gunned down in a brazen attack on Wednesday afternoon as he purchased cookies at Makeda’s. Images from the surveillance video shows two men holding guns aimed at the shop while Dolph was inside.
Though Makeda’s is boarded up and currently closed, the community has flocked to the location to leave cards and condolence messages to the beloved 36-year-old and show support to the Black-owned bakery.
Officers are on the scene of a shooting at 2630 Airways. One male was shot and is listed as non-critical. Officers immediately detained two suspects, and a third was detained at Kerr and Mississippi after a brief pursuit.
The cause of this shooting is under investigation.
