A man is suing Apple for terminating his Apple ID that contained almost $25,000 in purchased content.
According to the lawsuit filed on Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Matthew Price claims that he spent nearly $25,000 on apps, music, and videos attached to an Apple ID. He alleges that Apple also prevented him from accessing unused $7 in iTunes credit.
Apple terminated Price’s Apple ID for violating their terms and conditions. However, Price says that the company’s terms and conditions are “unlawful” and “unconscionable” because it states that users can no longer access their content once the ID is deleted.
The company retains the right to terminate an Apple ID at any time if they suspect that their terms have been violated.
Also, the suit claims that Apple products are “substantially diminished in value” if Apple IDs are terminated.
The complaint is seeking class-action status, consisting of others claiming to have had their Apple IDs wrongfully deleted. The lawsuit seeks a permanent injunction against Apple, barring them from terminating IDs, damages, and attorney fees.
