Man Who Killed Adrian Peterson’s Son Has Harmed A Child Before

Meet Joseph Patterson, the man who beat a defenseless 2 year old child. Not much was known about the man before today but after news broke that the child died, many began to dig into his past. Here are a few things that we’ve found out about Joseph Patterson and Adrian Peterson’s son.

Before we get into the facts about Joseph Patterson, let’s correct a few things. It was originally reported that the child that was brutally beaten was Adrian Peterson Jr, that information is incorrect. The child was not the child that you will see pictured all over the blogs. The 2 year old was actually a secret lovechild between Peterson and a South Dakota woman named Ashley Ann Doohen. Pictured below is Ashley.

It is being reported that Ashley did not know who the father of her son was until recently. She and Peterson had a casual relationship when she lived in Minneapolis. The relationship ended when she moved to South Dakota. Peterson recently underwent a paternity test proving he was the father.

Now let’s discuss Joseph Patterson. He also goes by Joey Patterson. His relationship with Ashley was pretty new. He had just recently moved into the home with Ashley and her son. On the night that the child had been injured, Patterson was alone with the child. He told the mother that the child choked on a piece of candy. An examination later found that the small child had been violently shaken and choked.

Patterson is not new to disciplining other women’s children. In a previous relationship he spanked his girlfriend’s 3 year old child so hard that the child needed an ice pack for welts. He’s also threatened to kill the child’s mother several times and had several restraining orders taken out on him. He’s also assaulted the mother of his son in 2012 and had to complete anger management courses. He’s got assault charges dating back to 2004.

Ladies, we have to be more careful who we let around our children. She didn’t know this man for very long and she moved him into her home. Had she known him betters he probably would have known he had a temper and a past. Care more about your children and less about that empty spot in your bed. This was a terrible yet avoidable tragedy.
