One of the suspects arrested for robbing Kim Kardashian in Paris feels no guilt about the heist, saying she “should be a little less showy.”
In 2016, five individuals dressed as police officers robbed Kim in her Paris residence during Paris Fashion Week. The robbers tied and gagged the reality star, held her at gunpoint, and left her in the bathroom. They escaped the scene with roughly $10 million worth of jewelry.
60-year-old Yunis Abbas told Vice News that he doesn’t feel guilty for robbing Kardashian. In fact, he blamed Kim for being so flashy and flaunting her wealth.
“Since she was throwing money away, I was there to collect it, and that was that, and that was that,” Abbas said. “They should be a little less showy towards people who can’t afford it. For some people, it’s provocative.”
Abbas, who served 22 months for his involvement in the heist, says social media played a big part in the successful plan. In particular, Abbas added that the apps helped the robbers keep tabs on Kim’s $4 million, 20-carat Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring she received from Kanye West.
“I went on the internet, and it’s true, I saw her jewelry,” the 60-year-old robber said. “I saw her ring, I saw that she showed it everywhere, and we knew this information through social media. She’s got a lot of money. This lady doesn’t care at all.”
Abbas also mentions that he didn’t participate in the actual robbery but remained downstairs while his co-conspirators robbed Kim’s suite.
“Madame Kardashian’s secretary called for help. But she called 911 in the United States, which scared us, which made them lose a lot of time. And when we got out, there was a bunch of police outside who didn’t know anything about the robbery.”
In a 2017 episode of her E! reality show, Kim had a breakdown while speaking on the effects the robbery had on her mental health.
