A manhunt is underway after a woman was found chained to a bed on Saturday night in Liberty County, Texas.
According to Newsweek, the woman called 911 for help, and upon arrival, police found her chained to the bed by the ankle, with a rope tied around her neck. Officials also found the body of her friend in a burning car nearby.
Detectives said the woman, who phoned officials, had been sexually assaulted at gunpoint shortly after her arrival with her friend. Apparently, the woman had been previously hired to clean the house, and her friend was reportedly lured there over lewd pictures.
Neither woman has been named, but officials said the suspect has been identified as Jose Marin Soriano, 59.
According to the publication, the deceased woman was told that Soriano would delete the photos he had of her if she came to the home. However, as the incident erupted, the woman managed to escape to a parked car on the property.
But, as she was reversing, police say she crashed into a wooded area, and the car burst into flames. She was pronounced dead on the scene. However, when her body was examined, she had a suspected gunshot wound.
Fortunately, the other woman, who was chained up inside the house, was able to phone officials using the suspect’s phone, after he fled the scene. She was then taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police are investigating the full details of the incident amid a manhunt for Soriano, who is described as “armed and dangerous.”
