Boxing icon Manny Pacquiao accepted the nomination of his PDP-Laban party to run for president for the Philippines in the 2022 election.
He accepted the bid at the national convention on Sunday, Fox News reported. The boxing senator pledged to serve the Filipino people honestly and has been waiting on this chance to make changes to the government.
“I am a fighter, and I will always be a fighter inside and outside the ring,” Pacquiao, 42, said in his address. “In the name of our countrymen who have long been desiring for the right change in government, I wholeheartedly, bravely, and humbly hope for your support.”
Pacquiao is the president of the PDP-Laban faction, alongside Sen. Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III.
