Following Monday night’s game against the Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns Quarterback Johnny Manziel has been fined $12,000 for his middle finger gesture at the Washington’s sideline. According to an unidentified source who spoke with the Associated Press, the ruling has yet to be made public. Manziel stated that he was reacting to unremitting taunting by the Redskin’s during Monday night’s game. “I had words exchanged with me throughout the entirety of the game, every game, week after week. I should have been smarter. It was a Monday Night Football game and the cameras were probably solidly on me, and I need to be smarter about that.” The gesture ultimately caused Manziel to lose out on the team’s starting job which went to Brian Hoyer. In a statement released by Coach Mike Pettine, he stated that he felt [as if] Manziel should have known better than to react to [the] insults, and that his behavior factored into the team’s decision in naming a starter. It is starting to look like the NBA and the NFL are becoming trigger happy with giving out these fines. No one is exempt!
