Mariah Carey’s 1994 hit song, “All I Want For Christmas Is You” is arguably one of the best holiday songs of all time. In recognition of the song’s success, Guinness World Records is awarding the singer with three records in the upcoming 2020 book for being the highest-charting holiday song on the U.S. Hot 100 chart by a solo artist, most-streamed track on Spotify in 24 hours (female) and most weeks in the U.K. singles top 10 chart for a Christmas song.
Carey was presented with the awards while on stage during her “All I Want for Christmas Is You” tour in Las Vegas. The moment was captured through photos, and Carey posted them to her Instagram with the caption, “Thank you so much, Guinness World Records for honoring me with three records in the 2020 book!… Michael from [Guinness World Records] presented me with a certificate on stage, so naturally, I asked him to join us for the #AllIWantForChristmasIsYou finale!”
This isn’t the singer’s first entry into the Guinness Book of World Records. She also holds the record for having the most U.S. No.1 singles by a solo artist in which she outranked Elvis Presley. Carey’s five-octave vocal range makes her an incredibly rare talent, and although new music releases have slowed down over the years, her fan base remains strong, and “All I Want For Christmas Is You,” continues to be the official song of the season.
