A South Carolina man says that he went to McDonald’s on Hilton Head Island and ordered a 10-piece chicken McNugget, a double cheeseburger, and a sweet tea with light ice and extra lemon.
However, 24-year-old Parrish Brown believes that the McDonald’s worker thought that “extra lemon” was a code for marijuana, according to Fox 8 News.
Brown states that he was unaware of the marijuana in his sweet tea, until he was “high as a kite.” The sweet tea contained three bags of marijuana at no extra cost. Everything was regular price.
The 24-year-old says he’d never had marijuana, so he didn’t recognize the taste.
“I have never had weed a day in my life, so immediately after I started drinking it, I started to feel weird and it didn’t taste like something I recognized,” Brown said.
Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Maj. Bob Bromage says an investigation is ongoing. He didn’t specify which McDonald’s Brown had gone to.
A representative for McDonald’s said the company is “fully cooperating with law enforcement on the validity of this claim.”
