Marlon Wayans has backed Kelly Rowland amidst the negative reports surrounding her scheduled appearance on the Today show.
Rowland garnered attention last week following allegations that she left the show abruptly due to dissatisfaction with her dressing room conditions. She initially appeared as a guest on the NBC morning show on Thursday to promote her new movie “Mea Culpa” and was slated to return as a guest host later in the episode. However, she reportedly exited the set in a dramatic fashion.
A few days later, Wayans came to Rowland’s defense amidst the backlash surrounding her alleged “diva moment,” urging critics to ensure they had accurate information before passing judgment.
“Yall stop with these false narratives. I’ve worked with @kellyrowland as a Star/producer i will honestly say she was nothing short of AMAZING,” he wrote. “Sweet, kind, professional. On time, great energy, impeccable manners and professionalism. She was nice to EVERYONE on set.
Wayans continued, “Not one diva moment. Shit happens in Hollywood. Get both sides before you castrate anymore legends. Love this woman. Yall stop this BS. This woman was nothing short of a humble loving queen… PERIOD.”
In “Mea Culpa,” directed by Tyler Perry and featuring Trevante Rhodes, Rowland portrays a criminal defense attorney embroiled in the case of a seductive artist accused of murder. As emotions flare, the narrative delves into a perilous dance of passion and deception.
